2 Top Six Finishes around the Streets of St Petersburg With just 1 hour of testing before qualifying, the experienced Brit knew hed be up against it compared to his rivals who have raced there for several years. As the flag flew at the end of the 30 minute qualifying session, it was pleasing for the number 36 Donorschoose.org Kia Optima to line up 5th in the strong field.

In hot conditions, Race 1 started off well with the Northampton based driver holding station in 5th just behind his Canadian team mate Mark Wilkins. By half way through the 50 minute sprint, the number 36 KIA was up to 4th, showing good pace. Unfortunately as the laps continued to pass, the heat and bumpy nature of the circuit was taking its toll on tyre wear and Ben was down to 6th and struggling for pace at the chequered flag.

With several setup changes made and cooler conditions, the team were confident of a good result despite lining up 8th on the grid for race 2. After a short caution period early in the race, it wasnt long before Donorschoose.org Kia Optima was up to 6th, a position it would hold to the flag.

Ben was satisfied afterwards. Its been a tough weekend, but weve scored some good points for the Championship. Coming off the 2nd at COTA, it would have been nice to get back onto the podium, but we didnt have the pace this weekend. We were reasonably strong on the new tyres, but we just struggled to keep the tyres consistent for the entire race. Still the championship is very long and we still got some good points, so it wasnt a bad weekend at all. Once we get to some tracks that suit our car a bit more, Im sure well be right up there and hopefully back on the podium soon!
