Two lights-to-flag wins was a great result after very limited testing.

With no full official practice day at the track, there were only two half hour sessions on Friday to learn the track, so it was encouraging when they went so well. Second place - only a quarter of a second off the pace was a remarkable result in the first session, which was limited by red flags to less than 10 flying laps. The second session was even better - fastest by three quarters of a second - half a second under the lap record on tyres that were, by then, well over a meeting old.

After such a good test day, qualifying was a bit of a disappointment, shading pole for race 1, but only second for race 2, 2 tenths behind Tim Macrow. There was a lot of head scratching - the car felt good and there were no mechanical problems. Some minor set-up changes were made for race day - which really couldn't have gone better.

Both races followed a similar pattern - good starts saw the Team BRM car in the lead, a good gap was established on the first lap which was gradually increased to around 5 seconds by the flag. In the first race a slow starting Macrow was overhauled by Trimble and that order maintained to the flag. In the second Macrow dropped to second off the line, but held off Trimble throughout the race. Ben claimed both fastest laps, but in the second race it needed a radio call from the pits to ask him to push for the last lap, which he duly did and set his best time.

The results increase the championship lead to 60 points over Trimble - and increase Ben's race wins to 9 -already higher than last year's champion Aaron Caratti with 6 races still to go.

Ben was pleased. "With so little practice, things could have been difficult, but the car was great all weekend, and I made good starts, which have been a bit of a problem in recent races. "
