Back over to Road America as Ben takes on the Continental Tires Series for Turner Motorsport Partnering Michael Marsal in the number 97 BMW, testing started off well for Ben and his Turner Motorsport team.
At the end of the Thursday official test, the Northamptonshire based driver sat top of the time sheets in the 60 car strong field, and the whole team was confident for the race.

The rules in the Continental Tires Series state that if you qualify the car, you start the race. With this in mind, it was Michael who at the end of the 15 minute qualifying session sat in a very competitive 7th position.

As the 2.5 hour race got under way, it wasnt long before the American started setting some strong lap times and making up positions, as he moved through the order. Unfortunately on lap 10, disaster struck. A backmarker dropped oil at turn 5, and as the leaders came through, the Subaru behind Michael lost control on the oil, taking the number 97 BMW out of the race.

Ben was philosophical later Its disappointing to come all this way and not get in during the race, especially as this is the 2nd race in a row when that has happened to me. At the end of the day, these things happen and the incident was certainly nothing to do with Michael. Im pleased with the speed weve shown this meeting and to be fastest yesterday showed what could have been. It is always great fun coming over here to the States, so I hope it wont be too long before my next adventure over here!
