2nd in Speed Series at Donington Park With limited running before the weekend, they all knew it was going to be tough with just 1 hour of free practice before qualifying. The WFR chassis had come first and second though at the first 2 races in Paul Ricard, so everyone involved with the number 14 car was optimistic going into qualifying. At the end of the 45minute session Ben ended up 3rd fastest in a competitive field.

The young Brit started race 1 and came out of the first corner in 3rd. As the race progressed, it became clear the Xero competition run car had nothing like the pace it had in qualifying, and it wasnít long before they found themselves in 6th. As the rain started to fall and the safety car came out, the team made a decision that was to turn their race around. Pitting under safety car for the mandatory driver change and deciding to stay on slicks proved an inspired decision. Tom Bradshaw jumped in and under tricky conditions on slicks in the wet, managed to take the lead. Unfortunately as the track dried the lack of pace returned and the duo eventually ended up 2nd.

With several changes made to the car overnight it was again Ben who lined up to start race 2. It was immediately apparent the changes had worked as he surged into 2nd. Settling down into a good rhythm he was lying a comfortable 2nd when an unfortunate battery problem curtailed their race.

Ben was reflective at the end of the weekend ďItís been an up and down weekend really. Qualifying wasnít too bad, although I would have liked to have been closer to the top 2 in terms of pace. Race 1 was difficult, but the team made some fantastic calls on strategy to keep us in the hunt along with some great driving from Tom in the wet, which got us a great result. Although race 2 was disappointing, Iím pleased we had some pace again and just feel sorry for the guys really, after all their hard work, it would have been nice to have been able to reward them with a great result. Iím looking forward to Imola now that Iíve had a bit more running in the car.Ē
