After a tough first experience of the GT Open Championship at Monza, both the team and the drivers were hungry for a good result. It wasn't going to be easy though, with 60 cars on the grid and one single 2 hour race a lot could happen.

Ben did all the testing as Francisco had exam commitments. It looked like they were in for a tough weekend as they struggled for pace at the back end of the top 10 with tyre graining issues. It was difficult to be sure though, due to the tyre regulations of the Championship meaning testing was done on very old tyres.

Ben as usual did qualifying 1 and was slightly disappointed with 7th. He didn't think he had got the best out of the car, or that it was handling quite how he wanted.

Francisco did session 2 and despite not having done a lap before qualifying finished up a good 14th in the circumstances.

The 2 drivers best qualifying laps were taken to determine grid position and this put them 9th in class, 25th on the grid overall out of the 60 starters. Ben started the race and did a good job, overtaking some cars and benefiting from others misfortune to climb up to 4th early on. The safety car was then deployed due to some oil on the track. The team made a fantastic decision to use the opportunity to make a fuel stop. This decision would prove to be critical at the end of the race. After the pit stop Ben dropped back to 15th and made up a few positions before handing the car to Francisco. Despite a severe case of food positioning Francisco did quick and consistent laps to bring the car back up to 7th. Ben hopped back in for the final stint, and as others who hadnít pitted during the safety car came in to make an extra fuel stop, came through to finish a fantastic 2nd.

Ben was delighted with the result "It was a great race. We had good pace in race conditions and the team made a brilliant decision to pit when we did. To finish 2nd was just fantastic, especially when we thought we were struggling a little in testing"
