Ben Clucas Racing

Toyota Racing Series Ruapuna November 24-26th.

Another mixed weekend, but second points score overall was a good result in the circumstances.

Things started well. Pace had been a lacking at Pukekohe, but a problem was found, and so it was hoped things would go better at Ruapuna - and so it seemed. Quickest in both practice and qualifying on a new track was very encouraging, particularly on a track where overtaking is very difficult.

A poor start in the first race dropped the ESWA car down into second, where it would remain for the rest of the race. More problematic was a sudden loss of pace - only 5th quickest, determining the grid position for race 2.

Race 2 went better, a setup change restored the pace and a good start put Ben up to 4th. However that was where he stayed, unable to pass the slower cars in front. Unfortunately in the final 3 laps (when the fastest laps were recorded) a holed radiator slowed his car and he was only just able to hold onto 4th - and would only qualify 4th for the third and final race.

Things started to look really good - it rained, which would, hopefully make overtaking easier, in conditions which Ben really enjoys. Unfortunately the rain was so heavy that the race was never held - and will be held over to the next meeting.
